Netflix recommendation: Look Who's Back (German)

The official title is Er ist wieder da and you’ll probably have to deal with subtitles, but this is the best movie I’ve seen in the last year or so. When you consider it was actually made in Germany (where most Hitler topics are verboten, which is English for German for “off limits”), it’s doubly biting. It’s sort of like Idiocracy meets The Office, all orchestrated with an uncomfortable Borat-like motif based on the crazy premise that the real Hitler suddenly came back to life in 2014. Highly recommended. Hilarious and scary at the same time, as any good satire should be. Enjoy a Kinja’d pic!

Watched it with my gf, and loved it even though my German is incredibly rusty. Some of the scenes are quite amazing.

I got her the book, I think I should read it at some point.

The premise sounded ridiculous, but they really pulled it off well. It felt like a documentary at times.

I have seen promos for this (while in Germany). If even the Americans like it it must be good, so I’ll give it a try.

Uhh....thanks? I’m just glad to see a refreshing treatment of a difficult subject done by Germans themselves. And the humor was fantastic, which is stereotypically not a German strong point.
